The rapper and singer Doja Cat is set to embark on a 2023 North American tour this fall.
The 27-year-old Grammy Award winner, fashion muse, and creator of many TikTok hits will be celebrating a milestone, as it is her first tour of arenas as a headlining artist.
Doja Cat (real name: Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini) will be joined by song of the summer contender Ice Spice and the up-and-coming rapper Doechii, as they open on select dates of her 24-date run.
The tour may include plenty of new music, as the musician has been teasing an upcoming album slated for later this year.
She previously claimed that the LP would be comprised entirely of rap songs, rather than her standard mixture of rap and pop, as she said that ‘Pop isn’t exciting to me anymore.’
The Scarlet Tour kicks off on Halloween night in San Francisco and runs through December 13, with a final show scheduled in Chicago.
The tour will hit most major cities in the US, as well as Toronto.
Doechii will be Doja’s featured opener for the first half of the tour on the West Coast, while Doja will take over in later November for the remaining stops in the South and North East before the tour comes to a stop in the Midwest.
The announcement arrives a week after Doja Cat released a new single, a fiery rap titled Attention that negotiates her relationship with online commentary from fans and critics alike.
Doja Cat first found mainstream fame when her 2018 single MOO! went viral.
The lo-fi video featured the future hitmaker in a cow-print outfit as she posed in front of a green screen background superimposed with crude computer animations.
Since then, she’s been nominated for many Grammy awards, including for her No. 1 single Say So, and her most recent album, 2021’s Planet Her.
In 2022, she won the Grammy for best pop duo performance for her collaboration with SZA on the duet Kiss Me More.
Her new tour announcement comes after fans have been up in arms after major artists charged exorbitant prices via Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing scheme, which raises prices — sometimes considerably — if demand from fans is high.
Taylor Swift fans were left heartbroken after many failed to secure tickets to her ongoing Eras tour, while others balked at paying thousands of dollars for scalped tickets.
Bruce Springsteen, who had cultivated a reputation for having fairly affordable tickets for an artist of his stature, also enraged his diehard fans when he most recently used the dynamic pricing system, which boosted prices for nosebleed seats to several hundred dollars for some buyers.
In an effort to bypass bots and scalpers, The Scarlet Tour tickets will be available to fans if they register in advance with Ticketmaster through Sunday, June 25, at 10 p.m. PT. After that, some lucky fans will receive a presale code.
A limited number of tickets will then become available to the public on Friday, June 30.
