Lemken Bringing Equalizer Precision Planters to North America

Farmers can expect to see the trademark yellow of Equalizer precision planters in Canadian and U.S. farm fields in 2024.

Lemken acquired the South Africa-based business in early 2023 and will significantly expand its seeding product portfolio with the addition of Equalizer precision planters with up to 36 rows and seed drills with a working width up to 80 feet.

In this report from Agritechnica 23 at Hanover, Germany, Equalizer’s Australia operations manager Bert Badenhorst discusses the success the company’s products have achieved in markets such as Australia and South Africa and how they will be integrated into Lemken’s North American product offering.

With Equalizer, Lemken now offers options for customers in markets the company has not previously served. It closes a gap in the Lemken product lineup and the foray into planters and seeding is also expected to drive growth for the Alpen, Germany-based company.

In this report, Badenhorst and RealAgriculture’s Shaun Haney take a look at the Equalizer CII Narrow Precision Planter, a 16-row machine that comes fully loaded with Precision Planting technology and a range of liquid and granular fertilizer application options.

Badenhorst notes that North American farmers can also expect to see Equalizer hoe drills, air carts, and a new disc seeder.
