Ram Rampage Compact Pickup Confirmed For North America

GM’s crosstown rival, Stellantis, recently unveiled the Ram Rampage in Brazil, pulling the sheets on a new, small, unibody pickup set for sale in South America, where it will rival the Chevy Montana. Early reports indicated that the new Ram Rampage may be headed to the North American market as well. Now, GM Authority sources have confirmed that the new Ram Rampage will indeed be sold in North America.

According to sources close to the matter, Stellantis has plans to sell the new Ram Rampage stateside. While specifics and details are still forthcoming, our sources report that the new unibody pickup will be built in Mexico for sale in the U.S. Back in 2021, GM Authority was the first to report that Stellantis had scrapped plans to develop a new midsize body-on-frame pickup to rival the GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado.

Just yesterday, GM Authority published new spy photos showing a Ram Rampage prototype out for some testing, with our photographers managing to snap a few shots of the interior. As it turns out, that particular prototype was actually a North American-spec model. The dash and seats were both uncovered, showing us a large infotainment screen mounted centrally on the dash in an upright, “floating” positioning. We also saw black trim surrounds, horizontal air vents, and a large engine start/stop button to the right of the steering wheel surrounded in a soft material.

Further details for the cabin include a good deal of contrast stitching for the seats, dash, and steering wheel, as well as a series of hard buttons, a round dial, and two cupholders in the central tunnel.

As for the engine spec, that’s still quite hazy. One option, however, is the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder equipped by the 2023 Jeep Compass, which is rated 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.
