Mexican government has deployed 113,409 members of the National Guard to reinforce security on holidays, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) informed Thursday.
The Secretariat indicated that as many as 142,807 Army, Air Force, and Navy forces, with the support of 19,877 vehicles, 416 aircraft, and 70 ships, were deployed.
Before summer vacations begin, 210 military troops arrived in Acapulco on Wednesday to guard the tourist zone and the port’s neighborhoods for three months, taking over from another military group.
According to SEDENA, from June 27 to July 10, over 256,000 deployed national guards achieved to arrest 382 people and seized 58 labs, more than 3,000 kg of meth, as well as over 6,000 kg of cocaine.
