P&G’s North America Fem Care Team Brings Purpose to Life

Our employees are our greatest assets, and purpose is our biggest motivation. At Fem Care, we bring our purpose to life everyday by serving our consumers, and yesterday was another great way for us to directly impact our own community with a period packing event.

As part of the team’s commitment to #EndPeriodPoverty, more than 70 of our Cincinnati-based employees packed 1,000 period care kits containing Always and Tampax, which will be distributed to school-aged girls across 30 schools within the Cincinnati tri-state area.

P&G Fem Care’s purpose is built on the ability to foster girls’ confidence, especially during puberty. This purpose fuels the team’s ongoing commitment over the years, to raise awareness of the issue, provide access to superior period protection and drive systemic change.

  • 1 in 5 girls in the U.S. still miss school due to the lack of access to period products — that is more than 3.5 million girls.
  • When someone isn’t properly protected during their period, it puts their confidence, dignity and education at risk.
  • Since the launch of the Always #EndPeriodPoverty program in 2018, we have donated over 235 million period products to those in need around the world, including 75 million products in the U.S. in partnership with Feeding America and Period Heroes.

However, donations alone cannot resolve period poverty as it is a systemic issue. In the U.S., at least 22 states have passed a law to provide free menstrual products in some capacity. Nationally, Always is proud to advocate for the implementation of a national Menstrual Equity bill — known as the Menstrual Equity for All Act — which would make it mandatory for all federal buildings and schools to provide free period products.
